Title
My current job title is "****gist".
But I will hesitate whenever I tell ppl abt my job title.
I sure don't feel like I'm one now.
Inexperienced.
Incapable.
Uncertain.
It feels as if I being given the title, I should immediately act like one too.
Heavy responsibility indeed.
Esp when it concerns ppl lives.
What makes a ****gist?
I don't know.
But I hope that in the near future, I can confidently tell ppl that I'm a ****gist.
Not because of my job title.
But because I can believe that I am one.
For now, I will just accept the fact that I'm called a ****gist,
and work towards the self-confidence of being a ****gist.
Settlers' cafe
I really like that place.
It's a great place for a group of friends to hang ard with. There's no need for you to crack your brain deciding what to do... there are loads of games to be play there!
And unlike movie outings, ppl get to interact in settlers' cafe. There will definitely be tons of laughter, cos the games are fun!
Hahah... i sound like I'm advertising for the place. Well, its really a good place to go for a group of 4-6.
Anyway, its been a long, long time since the swaps ppl had a full day outing. And this time, I think it was really fun!
Javen, if u reading this, i think your boss did the right thing by employing u =P
Happy Bday
It's my bday yesterday.
No big celebration for me. Just a day out with Ruldoph, enjoying a good lunch at Vienna. It's an international buffet restaurant, and the variety of food there is great~! Especially recommended is the baked oysters.... YUMMY!
I don't really enjoy big bday parties... of cos its good to have a big grp of ppl celebrating my bday, but there's not much quality time with the ppl.
I'm quite contented with a simple "happy bday".
To me, what makes my bday special is not the cakes, not the celebration... It's the fact that ppl remember the date.
To me, it means that they remember me =)
Thanks to all those who sms me!
And err, all but 1 who sms me, were girls.
I think its an indication that I don't have many better guy friends....
Or maybe its just that guys don't remember bday =P (and I confess to that!)
FriendJust had a very good chat with a friend this evening.
It's not easy to find someone who I can be so natural and comfortable with. Besides ali, she's the 2nd person I am so comfortable with in chatting.
It was a good way to recharge myself.
And also to tell myself that I can actually maintain a decent conversation, after recently comparing myself with my colleague ability's to do just that.
Hopefully, I can maintain my friendship with such a special friend, whom I share the same frequency with.
I wish you all the best in your future endeavours and in your relationship!
^_^
QuoteA quote to share from my orientation program." We will do a lot for money, and do more for a good leader, but we will do the most for a belief".Sometimes, ppl take for granted their own beliefs. Often, the 1st step towards changing an undesirable behaviour, is to change the underlying beliefs. But easier said than done, huh?
Regression Been in the orientation program for 3 days. Kinda interesting... I do like the given lectures, cos it gives me a bigger picture abt Singapore. The orientation program feels like my 1st FOC camp. We are divided into groups and we would do activities together. Not that there is much activties, cos most of the events in the itineary are lectures. So far, I enjoyed the tour most. We were given a tour around Singapore, and along the way, the tour guide will give us interesting snippets of Singapore history. One story strikes me most. It's abt a POW who drew some murals (depicting scenes of the Christian faith) in Changi prison blk 150, with limited materials (e.g. billard chalk as blue paint, and human hair as brush). The walls were then painted over by the Japanese. After the Japanese surrender, there were more than 10 coats of paints over the murals. Yet, the murals survived, and as the upper layers of paints got peeled off, the murals rose back to the surface. Amazing isn't it? Seems like a miracle to me.1 thing I noticed abt myself in the orientation is that I have regress back into the quiet, shy self. I evolved to become more... loud and gregarious in swaps. It was especially impt to lighten the atmosphere during FOC camps so that the campers feel at ease. But in this orientation, I dun have anything to say to the ppl. It feels as if its my 1st FOC camp, Soliloquy, which I'm the quiet person, just merely participating in the activities.Regression... bad thing? But I have accepted (sort of) that I will adopt this new self in my work place.
West Coast Park
Went recce in West Coast Park with Ruldoph today. I had to recce the place becos my unit having a Life run this month, and my dept is planning it.
Walked the whole afternoon, from 1 end of the park to the other end. Before the trip, I didn't know how big West Coast Park is... usually I only stayed at the end where all the playground is.
The 2 of us climbed to the top of the tall pyramid, and attempted some of the obstacles in the adventure playground. Loads of fun.
A fun day today! But very tiring.... now i'm all red like a lobster.
And again, I realised how good a company Ruldoph is. I feel so comfortable with her, and I can be totally natural and at ease in front of her. We always are able to find things to talk, and even if we run out of topics, then we will juz crap and enjoy the process.
The real worldWas involved in a project recently. Need to analyze the data, understand the trends, and provide an explanation for the trends. And I realised what a big difference it is between applied psy and theoretical psy.In applied psy, you have to work within limitations. Sometimes there's just no way you can fulfil the basic assumptions of research. You have to work with whatever imperfect data, and try to make full use of it.The data I was analyzing didnt even fulfil the basic criteria of normality. But there's a perfectly logical reason to it.I felt very inadequate in dealing with the "real" world. I always knew that, even though I can excel in my studies, I would have problem dealing with the real world.Really, being a "scholarly" person, doesn't carry you too far in the real world.Well, I have to revert back to my self-identity during JC. A hardworking, so-so intellect person.Ganbatte ne!
